Everton spend weekend in the Alps

The Everton squad have spent the past weekend in a picturesque training camp in the Alps.

The side flew out to Austria on Thursday and will remain in the mountain village of Obertraun near Salzburg until tomorrow.

For most of the squad it will have been familiar surroundings as the side spent a period of pre-season there last year.

David Moyes has always been one for sticking with his beliefs and sticking with what he feels right, but perhaps after recent poor starts to Premier League campaigns perhaps something different should have been on the schedule?

That said, a short trip away is always the perfect way to integrate new members of the squad so it was the perfect preparation for Steven Naismith.

'Being away in that kind of environment will give you that chance to get to know your teammates a bit better,' he said to the Sunday Mail.

He continued: 'Not everyone's here at the moment but I'm sure over the course of the next month or so I'll get to know them all.

'I met a lot of the players first thing this morning and they were more than welcoming and made a point of coming to see me. It's really nice to get that from your teammates at such an early stage.'

Of course Evertonians everywhere will hope that it won't take him too long to get to know his team-mates and the fact that he looks set to be playing alongside former Rangers team-mate Nikica Jelavić should also help him ease into the team.
