No medical, but fitness tests for Naismith?

Reports over the weekend had suggested that Everton's plans to sign Rangers striker Steven Naismith were at an advanced stage.

Rumours and speculation had started flying around Goodison Park, to the point where Everton actually denied reports that the 25-year-old Scottish forward had undergone at medical at Finch Farm on Saturday.

Other newspapers in Britain have linked Naismith with West Brom, Stoke, Blackburn and West Ham, although Everton do remain the clear favourites to sign him, with the player himself thought to be keen on the idea of linking back up with former Rangers team-mate Nikica Jelavić.

But just where did the reports that he was undoing a medical come from?

Well, the Post have reported that he has actually done an initial fitness test ahead of the full medical.

Everton are apparently making sure that an operation to repair his anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in November 2011 and a similar procedure on his left knee in 2008 has left no long-term damage that could affect him in years to come.

Obviously I'm no medical expert, but I would guess that there wouldn't be much of a concern regarding his fitness, as he wouldn't be trying to get out of his contract with Rangers if there were?

No need to worry, the lad will be an Everton player come the end of this week, Everton are justing making sure that a) his fitness is to par and b) no legal issues with the move. Apparently he has had an informal medical (not sue show that works) and is having a formal medical this week, and if all goes swell, he will be in a blue shirt.

Hope he passes the medical cause this lad is bloody special and teamed up with Jelavic would be a lucrative partnership(and some!)
