Everton set to complete Pranjić signing

Everton are set to complete the signing of Danijel Pranjić this week, according to the player himself.

The 31-year-old Croatian is a free agent this summer after being released from his contract with Bayern Munich.

He is pretty versatile and can either play in midfield or as he has done for Croatia, he can play at left wing-back or left-back, which would give David Moyes options if he fails to complete the signing of Steven Pienaar from Tottenham, or perhaps as a makeshift replacement for Leighton Baines if the rumours linking him to Manchester United become a reality.

Either way the player certainly sounds like he believes he is about to become an Evertonian.

"I am honoured that such a successful coach wants to sign me, and would be honoured to play for a club like Everton with such a rich history." he told Croatian newspaper Sportske Novosti.

He continued: "We were very close to completing a deal in January, but then Bayern prevented it going through. I can`t say that everything is finished, but next week I`m expecting some concrete developments.

"I`m hungry to play again, to fight with my team-mates for success, to play for the fans. I missed all that sitting on the bench at Bayern.

He would certainly appear to be saying all the right things, but as the Echo points out today, he was has also been attracting interest from Holland, Russia, Turkey, France and Italy and while he sounds optimistic over a move to Everton he previously said all the same things about a proposed move to China before that deal collapsed in May.

Would be a very good signing on a free. The lad can play as a LB, LM, CM, CAM and CDM. Like what he said about the club as well. Naismith and now Pranjic, with Pienaar most likely coming in as well, so far it is shaping up as a top summer (although this is Everton FFS, us and good summers do not go hand in hand)

for me Croatia were one of the best sides at the Euros and what i saw of this lad impressed me a lot -good passing skills- willingness to graft-good fitness levels and seems to read the game very well. He would be an excellent addition to our side.

I rather have Pranjic than Pienaar. He's a better passer.

Why not both? Had to go by Pienaar though, we know what Pienaar is capable of, I mean the lad has 3 goals and 7 assists in his time at Everton.

*Hard to go by Pienaar

Pranjic and pineaar = happy days
