Where do we stand in regards to transfer moves?

Everton have been linked with a number of summer transfer moves this summer.

We might be struggling for cash, but the British media know that David Moyes will be active this summer.

But what do we really know?

Well, Joseph Yobo's on-off-on-off move to Turkey is currently a maybe. He wants to return to Fenerbahçe after the spending the last two years on loan there, they want to keep him, we want to get rid, but as always the fee is the stumbling block and this could go on forever if past negotiations are anything to go by.

Two other players have been linked with moves away from Everton, Leighton Baines has been linked throughout the summer with Manchester United while Victor Anichebe has been linked with Wigan, neither of these prospective moves are far down the line and could just be paper talk.

However one of these deals may need to be completed if Everton are going to complete the transfer of Steven Pienaar.

Spurs want around £5million and Bill Kenwright was last seen checking down the back of all the sofas in a bid to raise the cash, again expect this one to run over the next month.

Then we have Phil Neville's recent comments which have stirred up the media's interest in Everton and Landon Donovan's love-fest.

'If there is a chance, I make sure that I try (to tempt him to Everton) every time I speak to him.

'That's the first thing I say to him. Toward the end of his spell back in January I even tried to kidnap him for a while and keep him in England!
Neville said in an interview with Sports Illustrated (yes apparently they do articles as well as Swim suit editions).

He continued: 'He's a hero at Goodison Park, and he's played less than 20 games for us. I've played with some world-class right-sided players in my time, and he's up there with them.'

This one is definitely just paper talk at this stage, but who knows what will happen around January!

In recent weeks Everton have also been linked with a trio of strikers, including Benfica striker Oscar Cardozo and Wolfsburg's Mario Mandžukić.

According to the media, Everton have suffered set-backs in our bids to lure either man to Goodison Park.

In regards to Cardozo according to talkSPORT we face competition not only from money bags Chelsea, but potentially even bigger money bags Paris-Saint Germain after scoring 20 goals in just 29 appearances for Benfica.

With those two clubs interested the 29-year-old's asking price has now risen to £15 million, which puts us out of the chase (if of course we were ever in it).

While German newspaper Bild believes that Bayern Munich are prepared to offer Wolfsburg around £8million for Mario Mandžukić, while the Croatia striker would expect to double his wages at the Allianz Arena, again putting us out of the chase (if of course we were ever in it).

The most realistic option remains Rangers striker Steven Naismith, but of course that move as we reported yesterday is complicated by financial and legal issues at the Scottish club.

It shouldn't be as *****ed as last summer, lets put it that way. It seems the banks have eased off for the time being, and a bit more money from the new TV deal has helped with the finances. Word around is that we won't have to sacrifice a big name like a Fellaini or a Baines, which is the best news as far as I am conceded, and any money Moyes gets from selling players (Yobo, Anichebe and potentially Cahill) he gets to re-invest int he squad and perhaps a bit on top from Bill. Hopefully we get a good summer, Lord knows Everton fans deserve one.

We sure do Rob, as regards the way things are financially we are lucky to have a small respite just now. Kenwright must surely see that the team at the moment is at the border of success, especially if we can get Pienaar and Naismith which would generate badly needed revenue.

If it was only Pienaar and Naismith, then I would consider that a good summer, although I do have a sneaky feeling that there will be more than that coming in. Crucial we have a good summer, good summer would lead to high hopes and confidence and then take on United at Goodison, good result in that match really could set our season up for a European push

I think it a fair assumption to say that if we as fans are feeling that good things are coming our way, then it surely follows that the "suits" are on the radar as well. Personally i have watched the blues since Albert Dunlop was in goal! (near the end of his career-when we won the title) The point i am making is that uptill now the best two sides the toffees have had IMO has been under Catterick and Kendall. This time last year i wouldn't have dreamed that we could ever get a side from the school of science again!! However i am pleased to say we are now remarkably close. Ironically i have just read up on Albert Dunlop and he debuted at old trafford---they hadn't been beaten in 26 games---we hammered them5-2!! I agree Rob with several additions and we hit the ground running we can go a long way. COYBsssssss

Naismith, pineaar and one more is what i think and if we keep our big names i will be happy with that

Champion Willy here ... First of all thanks for asking my opinion. Secondly you have to face reality in that you haven't net money to spend.... The demise of rRangers is a potential godsend ... Act like vultures and feed of the half dead carcass. As to Pienaar I still think five million is beyond your coffers unless you sell .... Hence th Anchibe story but he would only get a couple and same with Cahill. Issue to me is whether you cash in on Fellani while you can or do another Rodwell and hold on and watch the value spiral downwards ... You are a selling club with a net spend of four million since Moyes took over ... Great credit to Moyes but the telling fact.

Totally agree with you there mate, Naismith, Pienaar and one more should do it, can't wait for the season to start and give those "Red-devils" a roasting!
