Everton braced for Man Utd bid?

Should Everton be braced for an imminent bid from Manchester United for Leighton Baines?

Our friends over on Vital Manchester United certainly seem to think so.

They believe that weekend media reports from the British media suggest that the former Premier League champions may well have been waiting for the end of Euro 2012 before making their move.

The rumour mill regarding Baines and Manchester United has continued throughout the summer, but everyone knows that with Baines settled at Goodison Park, he would have been fully focused on England over the past month.

With that in mind, there was little point in Manchester United making their interest official.

But with England dropping out of the tournament on penalties last night, it won't be long until we discover if United are interested and if Everton are willing to sell, or whether it was simply paper talk all along.

Champion Willy here ... The truth is that the Scum don't have much money to fling around so don't expect a big bid ... Sadly we don't need him or any of your other players, so no big pay day coming your way. aSadly methinks you need to sell somebody to keep the books balanced.... Brillopad to Chelsea would get you more money and finance Pienaar and some more cut price players from Rangers.

We don't need to sell anyone to balance the books, last summer was just a one off and we are fine, especially with the increased revenue from the TV deal. We may actually have a bit to play with this summer. If United want to spend 20+mil on Baines, then go ahead, don't see us accepting anything lower given his importance to this team.
Rob-EFC
Rob am surprised ...so you have the money to get Pienaar and a few other class players to replace the Gereatrics?
Wswilly3
I would imagine we would have enough for Pienaar at the very least. By whom do you mean geriatrics? I guess you mean Neville, Distin and Cahill, Nev can be replaced by Hibbo and Coleman, Distin, well we have Jags on the bench and Duffy waiting in the reserves and Cahill can be replaced by young Barkley who I hope to actually see him play this season.
Rob-EFC
Rob - I wouldnt call Hibbo a spring chicken but you know his age better than me..... suppose you havent as many Saga customers as I had thought, its just the impression that is created, probably erroneously.
Wswilly3
Baines won't go to united as they can't afford him and he is not their priority and there has never been any interest in felli from chelsea, so no one is going anywere, tabloid pish
Bez the blue
Now one of Willys jobs on this site is to keep you genuine and in that context you have to face reality and in order to fund the rust renovation at the ground and Mr Kenrights overdraft you will need to sell at least one player. We were kind to you with Lescott and Spurs were with Pienaar etc eyc. Who is it going to be this year, that is the question, whether it is nobler in the mind to be a selling club is an outrageous misfortune but a reality.
Wswilly3
And as I have pointed out, after last summer the banks are off our backs after giving them 30mil (even willing to loan us money, which I don't see us using though), not to mention the new TV deal will benefit us greatly, so much so it will give us room to move in the transfer market and we will be active in the summer transfer wise (at the very least Pienaar and Naismith, who I have heard is deciding to join us). So unless Baines and Fellaini are unhappy, one says he loves the club, and the other said he is very happy at the club, and the price is right for Everton, which I cant see happening, then no-one will be sold except for fringe players (Yobo and Anichebe).

This story has been doing the paper round for some time now, recycled at that. From what i can gather Bainsey is happy at Everton and wants to stay. One thing i am glad about though is that he wasn't part of that pathetic performance by England. Hodgsons game-plan made Moyes look like a master tactician!!
