Could Joseph Yobo make a sensational return to Everton?
Or is this just a threatening tactic to try and get Fenerbahçe to finally agree a fee?
For those that forgot Joseph Yobo is actually still officially an Everton player.
The 31-year-old Nigerian International last pulled on an Everton jersey in May 2010 because he has spent the last two seasons on loan at Turkish side Fenerbahçe.
He has been quite a big hit over there, making 60 appearances winning the Turkish Süper Lig last season and the Turkish Cup this.
The problem has and continues to be that while Everton want to move Yobo on and Fenerbahçe want to keep him, the two sides have never agreed a fee.
Well I say never, reports suggest a fee of around £5million was initially agreed between the two sides, but last year the Turkish side refused to stump up the cash, which led to another loan deal.
Ideally Everton would want around £4million for him to make the move permanently, but are likely to settle for a deal around £2million just to get him out of Goodison Park.
Amazingly he still has two years remaining on his reportedly fairly lucrative contract, so there is still time to get a deal done and cash in and with him doing so well, its likely that he may have impressed some clubs across Europe.
The Echo have previously suggested that sides in Germany and France are both monitoring Yobo, which will either bring an offer from them, or could be enough to convince Fenerbahçe to get the deal done.
Unfortunately though there has been no movement from anyone and international website kickoff.com believe that Everton will demand that Yobo returns to Finch Farm in the next few weeks if a deal is not struck.
We highly doubt we will ever see the day that Yobo puts on the Everton shirt again, so surely this is just some tactic to try and thrash out a deal?
