Kenwright will not stand in Moyes way

According to reports in the British tabloids this morning, Everton chairman Bill Kenwright will not stand in David Moyes's way if or when Tottenham make their approach.

The Everton boss has been the heavy favourite to replace Harry Redknapp at Spurs, even before the recent dramatic twist that saw Redknapp leave Spurs a year early.

The bookies had already opened betting on who would become the next Spurs manager when Redknapp was heavily tipped to become England boss, so when his departure came yesterday, betting was suspended because so much money had already been placed on Moyes over the past couple of months.

According to The Telegraph, Tottenham have yet to identify who their preferred choice as a new manager is likely to be.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy held meetings on Thursday to draw up what is thought to be a four man short-list, which could apparently include Wigan manager Roberto Martinez, former Schalke coach Ralf Rangnick, former Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas and of course David Moyes.

With one year remaining on his Goodison Park contract, The Star believe that Moyes is cutting short his holiday in America for talks with Everton owner Bill Kenwright.

Moyes and Kenwright were always set to hold talks, with the annual discussion over what budget will be available for the first team on the agenda, but now according to the Star at least, a possible renewal of his contract might also be on the table.

However the red top believes that Moyes would be interested in speaking to Tottenham and if Spurs do ask for permission to talk, Kenwright is unlikely to stand in their way, according to the Star.

Come on you Toffees give us a the low down on Moyes. Is he any good or are we better off looking for someone more progressive. Be honest now

I think Moyes is a good manager but he is Everton through and through If he has any sense he will avoid the Levy road-show and continue to do what he does best for Everton or maybe Utd. a little down the road.

From what ive read in the papers and heard on the news etc it's more likely- than not to happen, that being the case i hope we get Slaven Bilic who has made no secret of the fact that after the euros he,d like to work in the premier and he just happens to be a pal of Kenwright.

Champion Willy here ..... sorry Mr Bilic has signed up to manage a railway team in Moscow and is not available. Apparently they have a few roubles to spend and he gets a free travel card for touring Russia ... you will not be able to compete with that.

If I were Spurs fan, from the list of names being mooted, my preference would be AVB, was mistreated at Chelsea, and definitely deserves another chance, because I do think he is a talented manager, not to mention, his name is pretty boss. I like Moyes, but time and time again we struggle in the big games (Derbies and Wembley appearances). I seriously doubt he would sacrifice the job security he has, and his pretty pay packet for a shot at Spurs, for me, he is holding out for a chance at the United job, and is biding his time until SAF retires.

I think he'd be a failure at Spurs, we struggle when we go to sides and they sit back and invite us on. He's not that kind of manager. Backs to the wall at Goodison with no pressure and we thrive, but I'm guessing that's not what your looking for.

AVB is the new favourite, that seems more realistic than moyes imo
