Everton make approach for Viola?

Have Everton made a transfer enquiry regarding Fiorentina captain Alessandro Gamberini?

The 30-year-old defender is expected to leave Fiorentina this summer after seven seasons with the Italian side.

Gamberini does have another year left to run on his contract, so Everton would have to agree a fee with Fiorentina, but the Italian side are reportedly open to offers.

Napoli and German side Bayern Munich are throught to be monitoring the situation.

Alessandro Gamberini's agent Francesco Romano has admitted that there has been interest from Germany and England, which could point in Everton's direction as not many other clubs have been linked with the defender.

But Romano also appears open to Gamberini signing a new deal at Fiorentina; certainly keeping all his options open!

'There are no concrete offers, only rumours,' Napoli has not asked me anything, while there are requests from abroad; namely from Germany and England.' Romano told Il Corriere Di Napoli.

He added: 'Gamberini has another year on his Fiorentina contract and I will meet them next week to understand their intentions.

'Alessandro has always given priority to Fiorentina and so, until we have spoken with the club and the coach, we will not look at other options.'

Lazy journalism, we wouldn't spend what little money we have on a position which is one of our strengths, we have 3 very good CB's and one up and comer, no need for another unless Jags is off.
