I've been infected! says Everton target Holtby

Schalke midfielder Lewis Holtby has spoken of his desire to play in the Premier League and has already pointed to a possible move to Goodison Park.

The 21-year-old German International who has won two caps for his country and made 36 appearances in the German league has an English father who just happens to be an Evertonian.

That link of course has caught the imagination of the media and they have linked him with a move to Everton this summer.

But when the player sounds so open about his love for the club, its difficult not to make the connection!

"I have always said that my aim is to come to the Premier League one day because I love the league," said Holtby.

He added: "My father is English and of course my favourite teams are Everton and Arsenal.

"My father was born in England and was an Everton fan since the age of five. He immediately infected me with the Everton virus! Since then I have been an Everton fan. My thoughts now are first with Schalke but you never know."

The lad is going to be a top quality player, only 21 now and has been very good in the Bundesliga for Schalke, but more so for Mochengladbach when he was on loan there. Would love to sign him, quality player who is an Evertonian, unfortunately, we cant afford him even though he is in his last year of his contract, he is going to command 7-8mil, which is out of our range, one can hope he runs down his contract and leaves on a free though.

Young, very talented and a blue, sounds perfect, but rob is right the fee would be a problem
Bez the blue
A really good player this kid, have seen him a couple of times but unfortunately we just haven't got the funds.
