Rumours build for Cahill Saudi Arabia move

Back in May we dubbed it as one of those, it'll never happen transfer rumours, Tim Cahill being linked with a big money move from Everton to Saudi Arabia?

It didn't sound plausible, a deal that would see Riyadh-based Al Nassr snap up Tim Cahill to be their big name star as he is well known across Asia.

In recent times, players coming towards the end of their careers tend to make moves to clubs based solely on money.

We've seen some of the top European stars sign up to obscure clubs in America, Russia, the Middle East and Australia.

It would seem in the swansong years of their careers, players want to rake in as much money as possible.

We thought the only question as to whether this rumour could be genuine is whether or not Cahill believes he has reached that phase of his career yet?

But several weeks later the rumour hasn't gone away and Al Nassr now according to the Daily Express have competition from other clubs in the region and clubs in China.

Champion Willy here ....you have seen the best of Cahill when he used to regularly pop up with headed goals. Equally you have too many veterans in your team and need a bit of young blood......no fee required for my wisdom

It isn't exactly rocket science is it? I believe he is seriously considering the offer, makes sense financially for both parties and in terms of his playing career, although he goes to a poorer league footballing wise, it also extends his career, which includes playing in the 2014 WC which he has highlighted is a big goal for him. Hopefully we can get a nice fee for him and put it towards Pienaar.

Good move for him, if it is true, he's been getting stale for some time now and if it does increase his chances of making the 2014 world cup then why not. If it does happen there's a slight touch of irony in that in his last game for the Toffees he got sent off!

Champion Willy here ....Oh no Rob the deal is that you have to pay the Saudi's to take him away ..... bit like a house clearance for unwanted and knackered goods.

Cahills playing time for us will get less and less, maybe it is a good time for him to move on, still a massive goodison legend.

I don't think he is quite at the stage where he needs to drop down to that level, but Robbie Keane did with the MLS so you never know.
