Baines flattered by United link

The Leighton Baines rumoured transfer from Everton to Manchester United just doesn't seem to be disappearing.

But while many players would be battering the door down to demand a move to Manchester United once their agent had shown them the pound signs, you don't get that impression from the Everton left back.

Manchester United isn't the first big club he's been linked with, granted Bayern Munich, although Champions League runners-up are not quite the same level as United, Baines didn't appear to be too interested in moving to them and it would seem he has remained level headed about this link as well.

'The United link is flattering, There is no harm in people talking about it because it is a great club. But I'm at a great club as well, a club that I love.' he told various media types recently.

He continued: 'Would it be hard to turn United down? I'm not letting my focus shift to that while I am in (the England) camp. I'm focused on what I'm doing at the moment.

'Would it be hard to leave Everton? Yes, obviously. You know what it means. I've been there for five years myself but also know first-hand what it means to a lot of people so, yes it would be.'

So no real clues there as to any possible moves, but plenty of fuel to add to the fire.

A player of his quality is extremely difficult to find these days so it is only natural the best team would want him. What some people cant seem to get through their heads is that sometimes a class player is happy where he is!! he already knows he is a millionaire and is made for life! It would not surprise me whatsoever if he decides to stay with us knowing our team is getting a bit tasty!

Champion Willy here ..... excuse me the best team, the Champions, do not want him as we have a far superior product in Gael Clichy... a two time premiership winner, true calibre. I totally agree with you though it is quite normal for a player on £35k per week to aim two fingers at a club, even if it is Manure, and tell them where to stick there £90k per week offer. Our sport is riddled with loyalty, honour, good manners and selflessness. Stay where you are Baines and pick up an engraved Sekonda and a nice clock for the manteliece from Uncle Bill when you retire at age 34 to run a newsagents or public house on the Wigan Road.

Spark plug willy, are you really there? you sad piece of ***t, i bet you have never been to a match in your life or played the game yourself. You have no respect for the game-you do not talk about football with a passion as all on this site do! I have got loads of mates who support Man city and they are genuine, not like you a tuppence hapeny snob who seems to get pleasure out of gloating? In the meantime have a good weekend Mr Willy Eckerslike- Can't wait for the new season, so we can give you another football lesson!!! COYT

Champion Willy here ..... well that was quite an outburst, I obviously caught you in a very bad mood.
Wswilly3
Yeah right mate, lost a packet at Belle Vue last night -shouldn't really take it out on everybody from Mancsville- still want to beat you next season Will the turd!

Champion Willy Here ....Yep you lot are our bogey side usually but all was forgiven for the 4-4. Never take me seriously, all I like is a bit of banter and I have a genuine soft spot for Everton, as you are akin to what we were to the Scum until our lucky break with the good Sheikh.
Wswilly3
I find the wee willy quite amusing, he hasn't seen success like this since he was a Chelsea fan.
Bez the blue
Haha, well said Bez.

Champion Willy here ....nearly right I haven't seen success since 1968 and after suffering at watching City lose to York City and Lincoln City and Macclesfield in the league it is a blessed relieve. Thanks again for the 4-4 for as the actress said to the bishop we couldn't have done it without you.

Now you are talking FOOTBALL Will lad, for a split second you were nearly down to earth! Your team has certainly come a long way since the glory days of St Marks (West Gorton). I too am a Manc Citizen, though when growing up the City and United teams were so crap I decided to support a team with such historic pedigree, in which I chose a founder member of football as you know it today... EVERTON FC!!!!!!
evertonmandan
By the way! I couldn't be a Manc for long even if I was kidding! Born and bred in the land of the free (you don't have to pay for anything!) Yes you've guessed it Norris Green!
evertonmandan
It is always fascinating as to why and how one chose your football team. I bucked the trend and went for the underdog whilst all around took the glorty route and went with Scum. That is why when we eventually beat them, it is so sweet after decades of abuse.
