Everton move has been important for Gibson

If Darron Gibson wanted his move from Manchester United to Everton to improve his international career with the Republic of Ireland, then he has received the big thumbs up from Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni.

The 24-year-old received a glowing reference from his Italian boss, who clearly thought that his move to Goodison Park has been crucial to Gibson.

'I think the change of club has been very important for him,' said Trapattoni to the European media.

He continued: 'Darron Gibson has other qualities and I complimented him on his performance against Bosnia. That is the Gibson I wish to have.'

Just goes to show that sometimes the right moves can be made without having to splash the cash.

Just a reminder that David Moyes prized Gibson away from Manchester United for just £500,000 in January.

What a signing.

To get credit from a giant of football with the pedigree of Trapattoni is praise indeed! To be totally honest it does not come as a surprise to me one bit, the lad has got what it takes to become a Goodison legend, end of!

Champion Willy here .... Dixie Dean was a legend. Darren Gibson is a knob end and a very average player that could not even get in the aged Scum midfield.... Did he play in the great 4-4?

Gibson did play in the 4-4 draw, right in the middle of the park. Willy, are you sure you aren't mad because he SCORED THE WINNER against your lot? I think he just needed a change of scenery, needed to get out of United and start a new and has done so impressively with Everton. Such an under-rated player in my eyes, just need to take a look at the results at the end of the season to see the effect.

Champion Willy here ... Thanks for the update Rob . Even scoring he winner against the Champions doesn't make him a legend in the making.
