After the goal less game with Wolves, Everton found their shooting boots against Newcastle to sign of the season in style.
The result of course secured seventh place finish, finishing ahead of Liverpool by four points.
There was some discussion on the forum pre match about the team selection for the game, then some talk at half time before the discussion began about the result.
Have a read through some of the highlights below:
ToffeeBlue: It is with great sadness i write this preview, as after 28yrs of being a season ticket holder i will be entering the Royal Blue gates for what is probably the last time due to personal reasons so i hope its a good one.
aines is back (although i would be surprised if he is brought in, might as well leave him to rest) as are Gibson and Neville. So i can see a couple of changes to the team
Hibbo Jag Heitinga Distin
Ossie Gibson Neville Pienaar
Everton 2 Newcastle 1
Thanks for the memories, its been fun
ToffeeBlue continued: Alan Pardew
Forget about Everton & Aston Villa, we have put ourselves in a similar position to Arsenal.'
So now he thinks he is on a par with an established top 4 side, the cheeky 1 season wonder nomark.
If it wasnt for his chairman doing the sale of the century selling the greasy pony tailed waste of oxygen to Liverpool and Alan Carr dad he wouldnt have a side. Am sure Moyes will love this comment!
Bez the blue: Newcastle will be mid table next season and they will have a battle to keep hold of ba and cisse, everton found out when they reached those heights that the hardest thing was staying there.
Rob-EFC: Sorry to hear that TB, hope you enjoy the game and Everton put on a show and belt the crap out of these arrogant twits, 1 season and they think they are an established team in the league, wait and see until the fat prick at the top wants to sell the likes of Ba, Cisse, Cabaye and Ben Arfa, and then come an talk to us, what a bell end.
Really hope we belt the crap out of them to teach them a lesson, that just pissed me off.
Rob-EFC: 'We`re competing with the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool in terms of results.'
Someone explain this please? So they are competing with Liverpool, but not Everton?
EvertonMike: Pardew fits right in up there with the biggest group of delusional morons on earth.
Why also are we being grouped with Villa about 10 places below us?
Hope we smash these.
Rob-EFC: Howard, Hibbert, Heitinga, Jagielka, Baines, Gibson, Neville, Osman, Pienaar, Fellaini, Jelavic
Back to good old favouritism, you have one CB voted players player, and another CB voted player of the season, and yet Jagielka gets a starting spot over Distin. Good stuff Moyes.
Come on lads, good show for the last game
Rob-EFC: This is absolutely brilliant football, we are making them look like complete rubbish, cant believe they are in the hunt for the CL, we have played them off the park, some of our link up play has been picture perfect, that trio of Jelavic, Pienaar and especially Fellaini is running riot in that defence, Fellaini really is looking unplayable today, I know he is a top class defensive mid, but as an attacking mid, he is scary good.
Brilliant, just brilliant, such a shame the season has to finish, as always we are playing some truly outstanding stuff, if we keep EVERYONE in the summer, including Pienaar, why cant we get Europe? We have been dominant against what is supposed to be a top class side
ToffeeBlue: Superb performance, totally destroyed a god awful Newcastle team. They were simply played off the park today with Jelavic, Fellaini, Pienaar and Ossie pulling the strings with Jag and Big Johhny having Ba and Cisse in their pockets.
How that little rat Cabaye stayed on the pitch i will never know, shoving a young lad when he was just doing his job is an absolute disgusting act and i hope something is done about it. No wonder Cahill was so wound up when he came on and was spat on at the end, eventually reacting and getting sent off but the useless ref did nothing as he didnt all game.
Onwards to next season, were Pienaar is a must buy in the summer and hopefully we can make a better start
EvertonMike: Excellent performance and result.
Didn't see what happened with Cahill, we're better without him in the side these days anyway.
Rob-EFC: Good way to finish the season, another good performance at home, completely dominated the 1st half and won the game then and there, 2nd half they got the better of us I felt, but we did let the foot off the gas. Cahill is a idiot, why do that I just don't know, must have said something bad for Cahill to produce that, idiotic from Cahill, although that Cabaye was a prick for the entire 90mins.
Fellaini was outstanding, the boys were brilliant, just brilliant, the way we finished the season was typical of us really, something like 2 losses in the last 17/18 games, and really loss against Liverpool we played a 2nd team, and the loss to Arsenal was desperately unlucky where we had a goal wrongly disallowed.
PLEASE KENWRIGHT, GIVE US SOMETHING IN THE SUMMER, WE ARE SO CLOSE!!!!! JUST GIVE US PIENAAR AND THAT IS ALL!!!
Some bloke called Yak was pleased with the result which left Everton finishing ahead of Liverpool adding: 'An embarrassing result for Liverpool considering the gulf in financial clout between the two sides.
Rob-EFC's Player ratings V Newcastle:
Howard 1: At fault for the goal, why he came for that I do not know and should've given him a shout anyway. Also, I admire your toughness, but in the last game 2-0 up, just go off lad
Baines 8: Brillaint down that left I thought, Distin was good defensively but going forward there isn't any better than Bainesy. Need to keep him.
Heitinga 8: An assist and a goal for a centre back, absolutely brilliant end for an outstanding season for the lad
Jagielka 7: If someone needs to be sold, make it him and Rodwell.
Hibbert 7: Defensively outstanding, cant blame him for that goal
Pienaar 7: Sign him up. PLEASE KENWRIGHT, we need him.
Gibson 9: You really do notice when he doesn't play, such an under rated player for us, helps with the stability of that midfield, can pick a pass and unlucky not to score
Neville 6: Not a CM FFS
Osman 7: Good from him today
Fellaini 9: Unplayable as an attacking mid, the more I see him in that position, the more I think it could be permanent. DO NOT SELL HIM AT ALL.
Jelavic 8: Finishes the season with 10 goals in 10 games, brilliant work rate, scores goals, what more do you want? Really has brightened the place since Jan 31
Stracq 5: had a decent run, but sadly see ya later lad
Distin 6: bit of a pointless sub wasn't it?
Cahill 0: Idiotic thing to do, and got him suspended for next season, well done.
