Everton's goalkeeper shortlist grows

What is it with the media linking Everton with goalkeepers?

It was only a few weeks ago that Everton were reportedly interested in a summer move for 21-year-old German goalkeeper Fabian Giefer.

The Bayer Leverkusen shot-stopper was attracting interest from Bayern Munich, Fortuna Dusseldorf, SpVgg Greuther Furth and Everton according to a report in the German newspaper Bild.

Now we've either decided that we're unlikely to stand a chance against the likes of Bayern Munich or there wasn't much substance to the link because The Sun have reported that we are now interested in Hungarian keeper Balazs Megyeri from Greek side Olympiacos.

Like Fabian Giefer, Balazs Megyeri is young, he is 22-years-old and has one cap for Hungary at Under-21 level.

He apparently will cost around £800,000 and would fit the bill as understudy for Tim Howard.

Or at least he will do until we are linked with yet another goalkeeper in a few days time.
