Pienaar blames move to Everton for missing court

Steven Pienaar has blamed his last minute loan move from Tottenham to Everton as the reason why he missed his court appearance.

A court in Essex has since issued a warrant to arrest Steven Pienaar as the 30-year-old failed to notify the authorities of the driver of his Aston Martin DBS after it had been caught speeding twice in the same road during an 11-day period in October last year.

The first offence was for doing 43mph and the second was for doing 38mph in a 30 mph limit.

It is reported that the prosecution do not intend to proceed against him on allegations of speeding. However failure to identify the driver or respond to the two notifications of prosecution has landed him in court.

Pienaar didn't attend Chelmsford Magistrates Court on Monday and the arrest warrant was issued with provisions for him to then receive bail to appear on a date to be fixed to be sentenced.

The South African midfielder has since visited a police station in Cheshire and his lawyer Gwynn Lewis claims that Pienaar's recent move was the reason behind the missed appearance.

'Steven has moved swiftly to resolve this misunderstanding,' said Gwynn Lewis in a statement. 'He responded immediately to the warrant and made a prearranged visit to a police station in Cheshire today (Tuesday) and was subsequently given unconditional bail to appear at Chelmsford magistrates court next month.

'Mr Pienaar was totally unaware of the court date due to moving to Merseyside in February - the correspondence from the court had been sent to his old address in Essex.'

See, I initially thought this as well, surely he wouldn't be living in London. Doesn't seem to be too serious though, has been joking about it apparently on twitter. As long as it doesn't affect his on field performances (which have been brilliant) than I am not fussed.

He will be where he belongs on saturday, on the pitch in a blue shirt, which is all that matters
