Arrest warrant issued for Pienaar

A court in Essex has issued a warrant to arrest Steven Pienaar.

The court issued the warrant on the 30-year-old yesterday after he failed to notify the authorities of the driver of his Aston Martin DBS after it had been caught speeding twice in the same road during an 11-day period in October last year.

The first offence was for doing 43mph in a 30mph zone and the second was for doing 38mph in a 30 mph limit.

The prosecution did not proceed against him on allegations of speeding, but failure to identify the driver or respond to the two notifications of prosecution has landed him in court.

Pienaar didn't attend Chelmsford Magistrates Court yesterday and the arrest warrant was issued with provisions for him to then receive bail to appear on a date to be fixed to be sentenced.

It is likely that Pienaar will lose his driving licence as as each offence carries a minimum six penalty points.

The Haringey Independent has quoted Chair of the bench, Ian Fuller as asking 'Is that the footballer?'

And when told there was a difficulty obtaining his driving record because they didn't know his date of birth, he told the prosecution to 'Google it.'

Talk about much ado about nothing! He'll get a fine and a ban like the rest of us. Hope he comes back next season, though i fear it will be with a chauffeur!

Could have a problem, his chauffuer when he had his licence suspended a few years ago was Yak, so we might have to bring him back :)
