'If It's Football, It's Vital'

I was not a failure at Man United says Gibson

Darron Gibson's move from Manchester United to Everton gave the 24-year-old a new lease of life.

At a fee of just £500,000 the Republic of Ireland international could be seen as one of the signings of the season after making an instant reaction at Goodison Park since his January move.

He has already made 12 appearances for Everton despite a few injury knocks, doubling his first team appearances over the past 12 months in just a few short months with Everton.

"I am just enjoying it and I`m in a better mood now, I know that. It is nice to know you`re in with a more-than-likely chance of playing every week, rather than not. Gibson told the Echo.

He continued: "I wasn`t sure what to expect but I`m really enjoying my football. It is a great club.

This weekend will see Gibson come up against his former side for the first time since the move.

The midfielder will have to live with the perception that he was one of the many who failed to make an impact at Old Trafford.

Having been with them since the age of 15, Gibson would have hoped to have made more than just 14 Premier League starts, but at Everton he has been given a real chance to prove himself.

Gibson added: "As a footballer you want to play and when it came down to it, I wasn`t playing as much as I would have liked. That meant I had to move. Some people would say I failed at United and towards the end, I wasn`t playing my best.

"So I`ve come here to start showing people how good a player I am. I wouldn`t say I failed I`d say I never got the chance I wanted."

I'm Irish and I can safely say the whole country thinks he is the biggest ball of $hit around.

Has been one of the unsung heroes for our turn around. Jelavic may be grabbing the headlines with his goals, but Gibson's play and partnership with Fellaini has been influential in our turn around. Doesn't do anything fancy, but he does his job and he does it well. Absolutely cracking signing for 500K, I mean the lad he represented his country, played in some massive games (scoring in a Champs league semi if I am correct) and is still only 24, outstanding piece of business from Moyes, and I think he will only get better for us. Heres hoping to a Gibbo 30yd screamer against his old side to make the title race interesting

Gibson and fellaini is a cracking partnership, gibson will keep rodwell out of the side with his current form and he will get even better working with moyes.

Another own goal against you this weekend. I started out thinking Everton would have the pride to try and fight back after a disappointing semi final. Now I am more than convinced after the genuine fans reaction and the players reaction that you will go down without a fight. Not goof for Everon, the premier league or anyone but the all influential Scum.
