It would seem that Tottenham have joined the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City in the apparent chase for Jack Rodwell.
Rumours circulating around the internet suggest Spurs are now showing an interest.
Figures of around £25million have been thrown around in regards to Chelsea and Manchester United's previous interest, however Everton have never received a firm bid for the 20-year-old.
But it would seem that Harry Redknapp might be about to test the waters in January and give the Everton suits something to think about.
Tottenham's offer comes with a twist though as it would not be all cash, instead, it will be the media's favourite transfer rumour of a player-swap plus cash deal.
Now if you were thinking up a deal along these lines then who would you link? Yes, rather predictably it's Steven Pienaar who would head back to Goodison Park with a briefcase holding £20million, while Rodwell would head down to White Hart Lane.
While a return for Pienaar would probably suit both the player and Everton, the switch for Rodwell doesn't really stack up.
Everton would not want to lose Rodwell, financially we might have to cash in, but for the sake of the squad we ideally would want to hold on to him for as long as possible.
Tottenham however are not exactly short of central midfield options, so why would they make a move?
Personally I cannot see much in this rumour, but it's that time of year and who knows, it is after all a funny old game.
