David Moyes comments after Everton failed to break down a poor Fulham side, and subsequently find themselves rock bottom of the Premier League table 6 games in:
'Someone has to be bottom and at the moment it is us. We are there and now we have to do something about it. we will start trying to move up but we wanted to do that today. Before today we had two tough away games with Fulham and Birmingham. We've got a point here today but I thought and hoped we would get three and that is what we will be trying to do at Birmingham.'
'Considering the position we are in, I thought the players showed great confidence right from the off. They wanted the ball, they tried to play and we tried to do all the right things. I think most people who have watched Everton this season would say that is how we have been playing generally but they would also say we have been hitting a brick wall at the 18-yard line. We didn't have the killer pass or the player who could quite make the difference around the box.'
It was a season that promised so much and is delivering so little.
Everton have now failed to score in all three of our away games this season, and with another 2 away days in our next 3 league games, West Ham aren't likely to be looking over their shoulders with too much worry.
There was an all too familiar feel to watching us play it about confidently on the half way line, until we eventually passed it backwards until it got to Howard who launched it in the general direction of our forwards.
