Moyes happy to be through

David Moyes might not have been overly happy about the performance against Carlisle, but Everton are in the hat for the fourth round of the FA Cup and that is all that really matters.

'The scoreline was a little flattering but we are through. We are also still in Europe and our league form is picking up, so things are starting to go our way.' Moyes told the BBC after the game.

James Vaughan had given us the perfect start with an early goal after just 12 minutes.

But Adam Clayton's deflect shot (goal credited to Kevan Hurst) brought the scores level.

The match looked like it could have been going to a replay until Tim Cahill broke the deadlock before Leighton Baines scored from the spot to make it 3-1.

Moyes went on to add that he was disappointed that we didn't build on taking the early goal scored by James Vaughan and instead relied on picking up two late goals: 'I was not surprised by Carlisle, but I was disappointed that when we went one up early on, we were not able to build on that and control the game better.

'We were disappointed with a lot of things but I cannot be disappointed with the result.

If we can get an easy draw in the 4th and 5th round and somehow keep scraping through till we get our best players back, we really do have a good shot at the cup again

And we deserve a good draw or two haivng drawn Liverpool, United, Villa and Chelsea last season

We weren't very good at all yesterday, but as Leeds and Reading have proved, on the day the lower league teams can make it very difficult for Premier League opponents.

we did make hard work of it. The 3-1 definitely flatters us. We were the better side but getting the decent side of the luck kept us in it :(

It's all about getting through, very rarely get to put on a show in these types of games.
