Hibbert confident he can deal with Crouch

In a head to head that the Daily Post have compared to David Haye against Nikolai Valuev, Everton defender Tony Hibbert is contemplating just how to deal with Spurs striker Peter Crouch.

Forfeiting almost a foot in height, Hibbert may well be called upon to switch to centre-back again with Sylvain Distin and Joseph Yobo both doubts with hamstring strains and Phil Jagielka and Phil Neville on the long term absentee list.

Gaffer David Moyes cannot even call on John Heitinga as he is suspended after picking up his fifth yellow card against Liverpool.

"Any centre-back, when they know they are coming up against Crouchy, they are thinking the same thought about how to deal with his height," Hibbert told the Daily Post.

But despite the doubts, Hibbert is up to the challenge if called on: "I don`t know the extent of the injuries we have, but I`m happy to answer the call for Everton in any position.'

"Tottenham have been scoring goals for fun this season. It will be a challenge. They have got a phenomenal squad right now, teams in the Premier League are getting stronger and stronger so we know what to expect."

Will be very tough if Distin and Yobo miss out. meaning we'd probably ine up with a back four of Coleman - neill - Hibbert - baines. has there ever been a shorter back four? and up against ******** crouch for this specific game too, just our luck right now

Neill, at 6'1" would be our best bet up against Crouch. Hibbo could stick to Defoe and I think he'd do a good job on him. The main thing with Defoe is you have to close him down quick, as he loves a shot. This is a natural part of Hibbo's game anyway. Will be interesting to see how Baines and maybe Coleman deal with Lennon and Kranjcar, respectively. That is where the battle could be won or lost, in my eyes.
