Jagielka Misses Out... For Mancienne?

Once again Phil Jagielka has missed out on the squad, it seems Cappello is determined to find centre backs anywhere, to pick over Jags. This time even going down to the Championship to select Mancienne of Wolves, on loan from Chelsea.

In another baffling selection, Cappelo also picked Joleon Lescott. This lad was fantastic for 2 years, but struggled to get in the England squad. Now he's playing awful all season, and keeps picking up the caps. While Jagielka carries our defence, including Lescott, and gets overlooked?

I'm not going to pretend to know a lot about Mancienne, but the lad has never even played in the top flight. Jags plays week in week out, at a very high standard, against the best opposition in the country. What exactly does he have to do to get picked? I'm sure Mancienne has bundles of potential, and one day will be probably be playing in the top flight. But if he's not ready for the Premier League, how is it decided he is ready for our international side.

Curtis Davies has also apparently moved above Jagielka in the pecking order now as well, which I can understand. He's playing well for a team at the top level. However if I was Phil Jagielka tonight, I'd be dissapointed to see Lescott and Mancienne picked ahead of me.

Full squad:
Carson, Hart, James, Bridge, Davies, Johnson, Terry, Lescott, Mancienne, Richards, Upson, Barry, Carrick, Downing, Lampard, Gerrard, Wright-Phillips, A Young, Agbonlahor, Bent, Crouch, Defoe, Walcott.

I've never seen this Mancienne fella play, but just what does Jags have to do to get picked?

I gotta admit I think Jagielka is a bit hard done by here (this coming from a Liverpool fan!). With Ferdinand and Brown out, plus possibly Terry too (depending on a scan on sunday) it was a great chance for some of the league's lesser heralded English defenders to put forward their case, and Jagielka is high up on that list.

Manciene has a great potential. But don't think he will have a full game though.Probably he will warm the bench.

AND WHAT IS WRONG WITH OUR MICHAEL? HE'S REPRESENTED ENGLAND AT EVERY LEVEL APART FROM FULL!

And your point is? It's not exactly hard to get in the England youth teams, Vaughan has played at every youth level but full. Yet can't get in the everton first team, he's not about to be called up is he? Yet someone who can't get in ANY premier league team, is called up... regardless of your view on the strength of the second tier of english football, if he was good enough for england he'd be in the top tier.

Would have thought jags would have been in the squad at least

Merlin. The caps lock button is next to the A key. Try turning it off.... Cretin. Mancienne, no doubt, has great potential and everyone I've heard speak about him likes him, but it's up against lower league opposition. Stopping Craig Beattie or Luton Shelton is a lot easier than Miroslav Klose or Lukas Podolski. We're not arguing Mancienne's potential but currently it is just that: Potential. Jags is in the form of his life, playing week in, week out against some of the best strikers in the world so why exactly is he left out? If we are going to treat this game as a proving ground then why not leave Terry out and include Mancienne and Jags? I also think, the only thing keeping Joleon in the squad is his versatility.

IT's criminal that he's not at least in the squad! when he did play he did nothing wrong at all?! but it the same old story as if you are at a top 4 club then you must be good enough for England.......... regardless.
